United Building Consultants is an independent consultancy specialising in building surveying and compliance services for the property and construction industry. Based in Victoria and working across Australia, we combine technical expertise with practical insight to support smooth, stress-free approvals.
Our highly qualified team has delivered compliance support for a wide range of projects—from new developments to complex redevelopments and heritage upgrades. We are proud to have contributed to the success of many iconic buildings through our proactive, methodical approach to concept and design reviews.
Because we do not accept appointments as the Relevant Building Surveyor (RBS), we provide truly impartial advice at every stage. This independence aligns with the VBA’s Code of Conduct, effective from 1 January 2021, and ensures your project receives transparent, conflict-free support.
Code of Conduct for Building Surveyors
The Victorian Code of Conduct for Building Surveyors, introduced on 1 January 2021, clearly separates the role of a Relevant Building Surveyor (RBS) from that of a design-stage Consultant Building Surveyor (CBS). Under the Code, RBSs can no longer participate in feasibility assessments, pre-planning reviews, or early design advice, as these activities are now recognised as conflicts of interest.
This regulatory change highlights the importance of engaging independent Consultant Building Surveyors during the design stages of a project. United Building Consultants is uniquely positioned to fill this gap. We provide expert guidance on building regulations and BCA compliance early in the process. Our involvement ensures that compliance risks are identified, mitigated, and resolved long before approvals are sought, saving clients time, stress, and unnecessary redesigns.
